Supplier trade fair experiencing success in its ꞌpartner searchꞌ

Even if the second FMB-Süd does not take place until February 2018, the organiser has now already mapped out its path to that event, gaining highly competent regional partners as exhibitors.

At ꞌhalf-timeꞌ between the trade-fairꞌs premiere and the second FMB-Süd, set to take place on 7 and 8 February 2018 at Messe Augsburg exhibition centre, the preparations are progressing well. Christian Enßle, Portfolio Manager of the trade-fair organiser, Clarion Events Deutschland GmbH, notes: "A good eighty exhibitors have already booked – a mix reflecting the market, drawing together companies from the region with trans-regional suppliers, all increasingly seeking to tap into the business that the southern technology axis offers."

144 companies exhibited at the first FMB-Süd. The event organisers are confident of surpassing this number substantially over the months to come. Christian Enßle observes: "Weꞌre currently in discussions with numerous companies and our reckoning is that there will be about 180 exhibitors."

Just like at the trade fairꞌs premiere, the event has succeeded in bringing on board the Mechatronik & Automation cluster – recently celebrating its ten-year anniversary – as a cooperation partner. The cluster management will use the trade fair in Augsburg as a communication platform and will recommend its members to take part in FMB-Süd. The cluster involves the efforts of around 180 companies and research institutions in mechanical engineering and automation technology. In Christian Enßle’s words: "It just fits together wonderfully: both the cluster and the trade fair are pursuing the goal of presenting the industrial firms in the south with interesting solutions for efficient produc-tion, while fostering the process of networking."

Likewise, Augsburgꞌs newly-founded Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum (Competence Platform for Small to Medium-Sized Companies) will present itself at the 2nd FMB-Süd. This competence centre is managed by the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Casting, Composite and Processing Technology (IGCV); additional partners include the Tech-nical University of Munich (Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics) and VDMA Bayern, Bavaria’s branch of the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association. The platformꞌs aim is to provide support to Bavarian-based small and medium-sized firms in digitalisation projects and in implementing Industry 4.0 topics. This means that the competence centreꞌs remit exactly fits into FMB-Süd’s area of focus.
