Global market leaders – and many proficient suppliers from the region FMB-Süd 2019: It’s all in the mix

In addition to well-known market leaders, visitors to the third FMB-Süd show, which will be opening its doors in Augsburg on 20 February 2019, will also come across many specialist enterprises operating in the supply industry seeking to convince mechanical engineering and manufacturing companies in the southern half of Germany of the quality of their products and services. There will thus be many attractive offers awaiting the visitors who will also get to meet new suppli-ers.

The FMB – the supplier show for mechanical engineering in Bad Salzuflen ended with a record number of exhibitors and visitors. Now it is not only the trade show organiser which is making preparations for the FMB-Süd to be held in Augsburg on 20 and 21 February 2019. Many companies which have been exhibiting at the FMB in the north for many years will also be showcasing their products and ser-vices at the FMB-Süd, thereby taking advantage of the special profile of the FMB both in the northern and southern half of Germany.

In a nutshell, the “building blocks” of this concept include: Exhibitors from all areas of the supply industry for mechanical engineering, compact booths, emphasis on face-to-face discussions, keeping expenses and required effort as low as possi-ble for the exhibitors and free admission for the visitor.

The signs are also pointing to growth for the FMB-Süd which is still in its infancy. The current number of bookings for the show, which is directed at visitors from the area of mechanical engineering, automation technology and industrial produc-tion, is above that of last year. Many exhibitors booked their stands for Augsburg while they were in Bad Salzuflen.

A balanced mix comes about, not only in relation to the products and services which cover the entire supply spectrum but also with regard to where the compa-nies are based.

Around 60% of the exhibitors come from the southern half of Germany, and thus also from the catchment area of the visitors. Some of them are well-known enter-prises such as ABB Stotz-Kontakt, Euchner, Ledvance and Neff, which operate all over the world and also exhibit at FMB-Nord.

However, for many exhibitors – particularly smaller companies from the wider area of Augsburg – the FMB-Süd provides them with the special opportunity to draw the attention of potential customers in the region in targeted fashion. Chris-tian Enßle, Portfolio Manager of Clarion Events Deutschland GmbH: “This is pre-cisely how the FMB started out in Bad Salzuflen: as a forum for the exchange of ideas and knowledge between machine producers and their suppliers in an area with a high density of mechanical engineering companies.” Only afterwards did exhibitors from other regions become aware of the show.

The regional collaboration between mechanical engineering companies and suppli-ers is also promoted by the Mechatronics & Automation Cluster. This established network comprising over 200 companies advises its members to take part in the event and organises the programme of lectures.

In any case, the visitor to the FMB-Süd thus has the opportunity to establish new contacts and to get to know attractive suppliers – in the interests of networking in the region.
